Inside the hut, next to the window is a table with various equipment and buckets. At the end of the room is a two- storey bunkbed made of wood, and next to it a box of firewood.

The living room has two-storey sleeping platforms, a fireplace and a table top in front of the window. The door is open.

Mustakero Open Wilderness Hut will be closed from April 15th 2024. The closure applies to all structures on the premises, including the dry toilet and woodshed. The water source will remain open.

The wilderness hut is situated on the Pallas-Rauhala Trail about 14 km from Pallas and 9 km from Rauhala.

Waste Management

The goal of the National Park is to be a litter-free area and hikers are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Recycling points can be found at Yllästunturi Visitor Centre Kellokas, Pallastunturi and Fell Lapland Visitor Centre. Read more about Hiking Without Littering.
