Liesjärvi National Park Trails
Starting Points for Trails
Trails in Liesjärvi National Park have their starting points at Pirttilahti, Kopinlahti, Lehdos, Sikomäki, Peukalolamminkangas and Korteniemi parking areas. The section of the Hämeen Ilvesreitti Trail (hameenvirkistysalueyhdistys.fi, in Finnish), which begins at Häme Nature Centre leads across the park to Korteniemi Heritage Farm.
Circle Trails, starting point Cape Korteniemi
Ahonnokka Nature Trail (1,5 km) leads from Korteniemi Heritage Farm to Cape Ahonnokka through old-growth forest. The terrain is easy to cross and boards along the nature trail feature mysterious little critters of the forest. A beautiful view of Lake Liesjärvi opens from the end of Cape Ahonnokka.
Punatulkku Trail (3,1 km) follows Hämeen Ilvesreitti at first, but after separated from it leads through varying terrain ranging from pineforest to a more boggy area and the shore of Lake Liesjärvi. There is a connecting trail to the main trail leading from Korteniemi Heritage Farm across the park to Kyynäränharju Ridge. The trail has been marked with red squares. It begin from Korteniemi Heritage Farm.
Pohjantikka Trail (5 km) follows the shore of Lake Liesjärvi to Pitkäkärki, where there is a meadow with a barn. The trail leads through old-growth forests. There is a connecting trail to the main trail leading from Korteniemi Heritage Farm across the park to Kyynäränharju Ridge. The trail has been marked with blue squares and it begin from Korteniemi Heritage Farm.
At Korteniemi parking area there is a dry toilet for the disabled. From there 200 m forest road accessible by wheelchair leads to Korteniemi Heritage Farm. The disabled can also drive very near the yard of Korteniemi. Korteniemi main building is accessible by wheelchair if special ramps are asked for in advance. We suggest that visitors with wheelchairs have an assistant with them.
Circle Trails, starting point Pirttilahti parking area
- The Hyypiö Trail (2.8 km) starts from the northern end of Kyynäränharju Esker, along Kanteluksentie Road. First, the trail heads towards Kyynäränharju and has been marked with orange squares. On the first stretch of the trail, you can admire the lush forest and herb-rich vegetation. After crossing Kanteluksentie Road, the trail is enlivened by the varied terrain and scenery. The trail climbs up onto Hyypiönkallio Cliff, on top of which you can take a break and enjoy the views opening out onto Lake Tapolanjärvi. The trail returns via the Siltalahti boat dock onto Kanteluksentie Road. The trail is well-suited to beginners and families with children.
Circle Trails, starting point Kopinlahti
- Soukonkorpi Trail (about 3 km) is a circle trail which starts from Kopinlahti. The trail first heads towards Savilahti camping site, but just before it turns towards Soukonkorpi area. Duckboards cross Soukonkorpi restored paludified forest for about 400 meters on the way. Otherwise the trail passes mostly in boreal forest along a path. At the south end, the trail combines with the old Ilvesreitti trail and then goes back to the starting point Kopinlahti. The trail has been marked with white diamond shaped marks.
There are also other marked trails in the park. They can be seen on the map of the National Park. Visitors can follow marked trails across the entire park from Cape Korteniemi to Kyynäränharju Ridge and all the way to Hyypiönkallio Cliff or even to Häme Nature Centre. The trails in Liesjärvi National Park are also part of the Hämeen Ilvesreitti Trail Network (hameenvirkistysalueyhdistys.fi, in Finnish).
