Yxskär is located midway along the route between Rosala and Jurmo, some 7 km west of Vänö Island. Boaters should head south from the route and anchor at the rock on the island's eastern shore.

Yxskär boasts a gloe lake surrounded by a nature trail. Information boards along the trail describe Yxskär's nature and landscape. There are animals grazing on the island, so it is important to keep dogs on a leash throughout the visit.
