Terms of reservation
Terms for Reservation of Metsähallitus Natural Heritage Services Reservable and Rental Huts, Reservable Turf Huts, Saunas, Reservable Campfire Places, Camping Areas and Other Facilities
Effective 1 February 2017
1. Application and scope
These terms of reservation shall be applicable in the reservation and use of the rental object (reservable and rental huts, reservable turf huts, saunas, reservable campsites, camping areas and other facilities) in a contractual relationship between the customer (lessee) and Metsähallitus (lessor). Any reservation of reservable and rental huts as well as reservable turf huts is deemed a single reservation, even if the said reservation would include overnight stays in different huts/sites.
These terms of reservation shall enter into effect at the moment a reservation is made and shall be applied in the contractual relationship between the customer and service provider.
By making a reservation, the customer assures that he/she has carefully read these terms of reservation and hereby accepts the terms herein.
3. Making a reservation
A reservation may be made at a Metsähallitus customer service point, by telephone, by email or as an online reservation. The customer must be of legal age. Any reservation made by the customer is binding.
4. Payment and terms of payment
The entire reservation shall be paid in one sum.
If the reservation is made earlier than 59 days before its scheduled start date, the payment due date shall be 59 days prior to the scheduled start date. If the reservation is made within 59 days of the scheduled start date, the reservation shall be paid immediately. The reservation amount shall be paid by the due date specified on the invoice.
Information on the key and other necessary details will be sent to the customer along with the invoice.
Prices include the VAT valid at that time. Metsähallitus reserves the right to make price changes.
Changes to a reservation shall be made either in writing (letter, email) or by calling a customer service point during business hours. If the original reservation is changed afterwards in any way, Metsähallitus reserves the right to charge a change fee of 13 €/change (incl. VAT). If the change is made more than 60 days before the beginning of the event, no change fee shall be charged.
If the invoice has not already been paid, any changes made will be taken into account on the invoice.
If the invoice has already been paid, a supplementary invoice for additional charges shall be sent. If the change reduces the reservation amount and the change is made after payment of the invoice and more than 14 days before the scheduled start date, the surplus amount shall be refunded to the customer. If the reservation amount is reduced less than 48 hours before the scheduled start date, the surplus amount shall not be refunded. However, refunds less than 20 € (incl. VAT) shall not be given. Change fees shall be deducted from the refund amount.
Changes made by email shall be deemed as received when it is found on a Metsähallitus recipient device or information system at a customer service point during business hours to the extent that the message can be processed. If the electronic message arrives after business hours, the change shall be deemed as taking effect on the following open day.
Cancellation of a reservation shall be made either in writing (letter, email) or by calling a customer service point during business hours. A cancellation is deemed as having taken effect at the moment Metsähallitus has received knowledge of the cancellation. A cancellation made by email shall be deemed as received when it is found on a Metsähallitus recipient device or information system at a customer service point during business hours to the extent that the message can be processed. If the electronic message arrives after business hours, the cancellation shall be deemed as taking effect on the following open day.
Reservations are not cancelled automatically if a customer fails to pay an invoice; the customer must always cancel a reservation if he/she does not intend to use it. If the invoice is not paid despite demands for payment, Metsähallitus reserves the right to cancel the reservation and charge the customer a cancellation fee in accordance with these terms of reservation.
If a reservation is cancelled before the scheduled start date by the customer or his/her relative due to sudden illness, accident or death, the customer is entitled to a full refund of his/her reservation payment, minus service fees (13 €, incl. VAT). In case of illness or accident, the customer shall provide Metsähallitus with a medical certificate within 14 days of the cancellation. If a reservation is cancelled for any of the above reasons during the reservation period, the reservation payment shall not be refunded.

VAT). If the customer cancels his/her reservation less than 60 days, but more than 14 days before the scheduled start date, a cancellation fee, which is 30% of the reservation amount, but no less than 20 € (incl. 7. Metsähallitus' right to cancel a reservation
In cases of force majeure, Metsähallitus reserves the right to cancel a reservation. In such cases, the customer shall receive a full refund of the reservation amount. Any other costs incurred by cancellation of the reservation contract shall not, however, be refunded. Metsähallitus reserves the right to cancel a reservation if the customer has not paid the reservation invoice by the stated due date. The customer shall, in any event, be required to pay the full reservation amount.
Metsähallitus reserves the right to cancel a customer reservation if said customer has not complied with the rules and regulations for staying in rental facilities during previous visits and if said customer has otherwise acted in violation of the contract concerning the use of rental facilities.
The customer shall fetch the key from the key pick-up point upon presentation of the payment receipt. The customer shall drop off the key for the hut or other site reserved immediately at the end of his/her reservation period (in wilderness sites, within one week of the end of the reservation period) in accordance with the stated rules and regulations. A one hundred (100) euro (incl. VAT) fee shall be charged for failure to return the key. A five (5) euro (incl. VAT) fee shall be charged for sending the key to the customer when doing the reservation. A ten (10) euro (incl. VAT) fee shall be charged for sending the key to the customer later. Keys will be sent only to destinations in Finland.
9. Staying at sites
During the reservation period, the customer is entitled to use all furnishings in the hut or sauna he/she has reserved as well as sleeping places specified in his/her reservation or the right to use another facility he/she has reserved. The customer shall have his/her payment receipt and hut reservation confirmation along in order to show proof of his/her reservation and its payment. The customer shall be prepared to present the reservation confirmation to Metsähallitus staff or supervisory authorities.
While staying in huts, all users shall take others into consideration, ensuring that no users are disturbed between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The customer is responsible for the cleanliness of the hut and its surrounding grounds. Smoking and the disruptive consumption of alcohol at huts is expressly forbidden. Each rental site has its own rules and regulations regarding pets.
10. Hunting and fishing permits
Rental accommodation does not guarantee the license to hunt or fish in that area or in the areas nearby, which belong to Metsähallitus and require hunting and fishing permits. These permits should ALWAYS be purchased separately for example by visiting the web page eraluvat.fi.
11. Compensation for damages
The customer is hereby obligated to compensate Metsähallitus for any damages he/she causes to the hut or facility, its furnishings or surrounding grounds as well as for any damages caused to Metsähallitus from losses suffered by other visitors or preventing them from using the service.
12. Disputes and their resolution
Any complaints to be lodged shall always be immediately submitted to Metsähallitus. If this is not possible, or there is no satisfactory solution, or a demand for compensation is involved, the complaint shall be submitted in writing within one month of the end of the reservation period to the following address: Metsähallitus, Customer feedback, P.O. Box 94, 01301 Vantaa. Metsähallitus reserves a one month processing period for all feedback received.
Every effort shall be made to resolve disputes concerning the contract in negotiations between the involved parties. If the customer and Metsähallitus cannot reach a mutual understanding, the customer may bring the matter before the Consumer Complaint Board for hearing.
As a last resort, disputes concerning the contract shall be resolved by the Vantaa District Court.
All huts have a specific accommodation capacity (i.e. the maximum number of sleeping places) specified on the website or posted otherwise. Metsähallitus is not obligated to provide compensation for any disturbances or costs caused by natural conditions, such as insects, moles and mice or unforeseeable changes in weather.
