The crossing boats of Airovirta, Naukuniemi and Vastuuniemi available

(Updated 17th of May 2022)

The crossing boats at Airovirta, Naukuniemi and Vastuuniemi are now available. The crossing boats are usable at the demanding route of Koskikierros Circle Trail (31 km, northern and southern parts, crossing the river using simple suspension bridges).

The crossing boats make shortcuts possible in the Koskikierros Circle Trail, by halving the trail in two shorter routes: Neitijärven kierros Trail (22 km, only the northern part, a boat crossing at Airovirta) and Vastuuniemen kierros Trail (11 km, only the southern part, a boat crossing at Murroojärvi, Vastuuniemi).

The maintenance of roads will be continued till end of the winter season

(Updated 24th of March 2022)

The winter maintenance of roads will be continued till the end of the winter season. Maintenance of the roads is carried out to Siikakoski and Neitikoski parking areas. The roads currently have a strong ice sheet. Later in spring, conditions of the roads can be more difficult. Due to the large amount of snow, the roads are narrower than normal in some places, as well as the parking areas are smaller than in summer. Also as the spring progresses, it is a good idea to have a shovel and a small bag of gravel in the car for soft or slippery road sections.

Check for Warnings

When forest and grass fire warnings (en.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi) are in effect, fire is only allowed at covered campfire sites that have a flue. A fire can be also lit in fireplaces at wilderness and other huts. Always use extreme caution when handling fire. The one who lights a fire is always responsible for its safe use. Please note, that making fire at these campfire sites can be banned locally.
