Juntinoja Rental Hut

Rental hut, 4 persons / 16 m2. Sauna in the same building.


Reservable from March to October. To july-october can be done only week reservations (sat-sat). After 1st of may also shorter reservations is acceptabel.

The wilderness-like Juntinoja log cabin is located in the vicinity of the River Menesjoki, approx. 51 km from Inari towards Kittilä. The cabin is surrounded by good hunting and hiking areas. In summer, hut is accessible by car. In winter, car parking can be found by the Inari - Kittilä road at a distance of about 500 metres from the hut. The hut was built in 1965 and renovated in 1991. The sauna was renovated in the summer of 2005.

Location and Description

Northern Lapland Region, Municipality of Inari (www.inari.fi), Hammastunturi Wilderness Area. The historical Sallivaara reindeer round-up site (in Finnish) is located in the vicinity.

From Inari: from the parish village of Inari, drive 51 km along the Kittilä road. When arriving from Inari, there is a wooden signpost "Juntinojan vuokrakämppä" ("Juntinoja rental hut") on the right-hand side of the road. In summer, passenger cars are able to travel along the forest road (c. 450m turning to the right) to the hut.
In winter, leave your car by the Inari – Kittilä road and walk the remaining 500 metres to the hut.

From Kittilä: from the Hirvaspää mast, continue driving for 2.4 km towards Inari, the signpost to the hut is located on the left side of the road.

The distance from the hut to the border of Lemmenjoki National Park is only about 2.5 km.

The closest villages are Njurgalahti 24 km and Menesjärvi 22 km, where you will find a restaurant, and Inari  52 km, where you will find all basic services.

The distance to the Hirvassalmi reindeer round-up site is 8 km.
The closest neighbour is 16 km.

65 e / day and 390 e / week (incl. VAT 10%). Midsummer weekend Thu -Sun 260 €.

Keys Keys can be picked up from: Ivalo River Camping camping area (Kerttuojantie 1, 99800 Ivalo (Inari), tel. +358 40 039 5046), Ivalo Customer Service or Northern Lapland Nature Centre Siida. When picking up the keys you must have a receipt with you. Keys should be returned at the same place where you have fetched them.  


Wood-stove heating, a gas cooker, mattresses, pillows and blankets, a dry toilet, solar cell lights (1 March – 31 October) and candles (bring them with you). Drinking water from the brook located at a distance of 30 m away, an earth cellar and a campfire site.

Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.

Reservation starts at 2PM and ends at 12PM.

Not suitable for snowmobiles.
Urraoaivi (2.5 km), the closest fell in Lemmenjoki National Park, offers handsome views over the park's inner areas and the great fells. 

Make sure you pack a first-aid kit.
It is allowed to bring pets in the hut.
Please bring your own linen or a sleeping bag.

No toilet paper or paper towels are kept in the hut. Bring candles too.
