The Saarijärvi rental hut is located along the Peuran polku Trail, on the shore of the Lake Saarijärvi.

Rental huts are meant for hikers, skiers, canoeists or row boaters to use. They are locked and a fee is charged for staying overnight. Only the visitors who have made a bed reservation for a night or two can stay in the hut. Commercial groups need a permit from Metsähallitus when using rental huts. Directions

On Foot

Saarijärvi rental hut is located at Saarijärvi lake, in the northern  part of Peuran polku hiking trail. The distance from the northern starting point of the trail, Petäjämäki Outdoor Recreation Area (excursionmap.fi) is approximately 8 km. 

By Car

Kuivajärvi parking area, Kuivajärventie 700, Reisjärvi.

Walk 1 km towards north-east from the parking area along the Matoharjuntie-road, until you reach the Peuran polku hiking trail sign. The trail is marked with orange paint markings. Turn left towards north, and continue forward 2,5 km to the Saarijärvi rental hut. Winter maintenance up to Kuivajärvi parking area.

Keys

Keys for the Saarijärvi rental hut and sauna are available in the lock box located next to the door of the hut. You'll receive the code by email after paying for the reservation. 

Facilities

Heating and light

Wood stove heating. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm! No electricity. A fire extinguisher and a fire blanket. 

Cooking

A gas cooker, tableware and kitchen utensils

Drinking water

You must bring your own drinking water, use the water from the lake only for bathing and washing the dishes. 

Sleeping

Two bunk beds, mattresses, pillows, blankets. Bring your own bedsheets. 

Sauna

Wood heated sauna in the same building.

There is an ice saw in the hut which can be used to break the lake's ice layer in winter to get washing water. Make the opening slightly away from the pier. In this way, the pier structures remain intact.

Toilet

An outhouse. Bring your own toilet paper. 

Waste management

There is no waste managementPlease do not leave any litter or other traces of your stay. Small amounts of compostable waste can be disposed in the dry toilet. Small amounts of dry and clean paper or cardboard can be used as a kindling. Read more about Hiking Without Littering.

Notices

  • Mobile phone coverage is poor in this area!
  • Outside there is a campfire area, woodshed and dry toilet, a small dock and a rowing boat.
  • Pets are not allowed in the hut. 
  • Wash the dishes at least 15 metres away from the lake to prevent detergent or food remains contaminating the waters.
