Location and Description

Northern Lapland Region, Municipality of Inari, Inari Hiking Area.

Inarijärvi Kahkusaari, coordinates: Euref-Fin (~ WGS84) lat: 69° 00.7558' lon: 27° 39.6240'  ETRS-TM35FIN: N: 7655908 E: 526396.

The hut is located on the southeastern shore of Kahkusaari Island, northeast of Viimassaari Island in Lake Inari.

The hut was built in 1984 and can be used in winter.

Facilities

  • A wood-burning stove and a gas cooker.

Notices

  • Pets are permitted in the hut, but only if other visitors consent to it.
  • There is a campfire shelter with a fireplace nearby, as well as a pier.
  • Safety on hiking.
  • There is a recycling point at the wilderness hut, but hikers are asked to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about Hiking Without Littering.
