Louhioja Open Wilderness Hut


Open wilderness hut for 4 persons.


Northern Lapland Region, Municipality of Inari, Hammastunturi Wilderness Area.

Louhioja tupa, coordinates: Euref-Fin (~ WGS84) lat: 68° 31.7047' lon: 27° 02.3215'  ETRS-TM35FIN: N: 7601779 E: 501580.

The wilderness hut is situated on the south side of the River Ivalojoki about 400 m from it, west of the River Louhioja which flows into the River Ivalojoki.

A log cabin with a low ceiling, built in the 1920s.



A wood-burning stove and a gas stove.


  • Pets are allowed in the hut, but only if other visitors consent to it.
  • Safety on hiking.
  • There are waste bins at the wilderness hut, but we ask hikers to bring their own litter out of the area. Read more about Hiking Without Littering.
