Welcome to Northern Lapland Nature Centre Siida

The Sámi Museum and Northern Lapland Nature Centre work together for organizing activities at Siida. The Sámi Museum and the Nature Centre have worked together to produce the permanent exhibition. In addition the diverse services of Metsähallitus and the information on the travel and tourism services are available at Siida.

Our permanent exhibition links Sámi culture and northern nature to one another forming one whole, which offers a vivid and visual experience as well as an abundance of information. Sarrit is a comfortable cafe-restaurant where you can recharge for a moment during your visit to our exhibitions.

The Siida building will be renovated and expanded on 2020 – 2022. The new parts will be housing the Sámi Museum Collections Unit and the restaurant. The joint permanent exhibition of the Sámi Museum and Northern Lapland Nature Centre will be renewed. We will remain open throughout the renewal (only exception is May 2021, when Siida is closed). The larger, renovated Siida and the new exhibition will open in April 2022.
