Welcome to Kilpisjärvi Visitor Centre

Kilpisjärvi sits at the foot of Saana Fell in the middle of the Arctic high-fell area. Kilpisjärvi Visitor Centre's permanent exhibition On the Edge of the Caledonides introduces Malla Strict Nature Reserve, Saana Nature Reserve and Research Area, Käsivarsi Wilderness Area, and the residents of Kilpisjärvi. The Visitor Centre is for all visitors, tourists, fishers, and hikers on the Nordkalott Trail.

Opening Hours in 2024

Visitor Centre is closed for midwinter.

Suitability: Suitable for hikers, trekkers, fishers, snowmobile drivers, and families. The exhibition space, customer service, and toilets are accessible to all.

Services: Information on nature, information for hikers, fishing and cross-country traffic permits, reservations and keys to reservation and rental huts in the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area, maps, books, souvenirs, free WiFi, recycling point. Services provided by cooperating partners are also available. Read more.
