Directions to Repovesi National Park
Repovesi National Park is located on the western side of the Kouvola-Mikkeli road (Highway 15). Repovesi is 175 km from Helsinki, 50 km from Kouvola via Valkeala and 75 km from Mikkeli via Mäntyharju. The nearest airport is Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.
To the Hiking Trails
The hiking trails start at the Tervajärvi, Lapinsalmi or Saarijärvi parking areas. Starting points for the hiking trails.
By Train to Kouvola and Mäntyharju; in the Summer, also to Hillosensalmi
The closest railway stations (vr.fi) where trains stop are Mäntyharju (47 km) or Kouvola (55 km). The train does not stop at Hillosensalmi.
On summer you can reach Repovesi with some busses that leave from the Kouvola railway station (kouvola.digitransit.fi/en). If you leave from the Mäntyharju station, you can reach the Repovesi National Park through paddling, hiking or mountain biking routes.
From 20 June to 14 August 2022, you can also get to the Repovesi National Park from the Hillosensalmi stop. InterCity trains between Helsinki and Kuopio stop at Hillosensalmi daily. The distance to Repovesi from Hillosensalmi is around 7 kilometres on roads and 2.5 kilometres by water. The minibus connection of the city of Kouvola from Hillosensalmi to Lapinsalmi awaits passengers next to the station. There is no need to reserve a place in advance.

By Bus to Repovesi
Buses (kouvola.digitransit.fi/en) travel from Kouvola to Lapinsalmi during the summer and from Kouvola to Orilampi (about 9 km from Lapinsalmi) all year round. For the rest of the trip you can take a taxi.
In addition, the Repovesi Bus (visitkouvola.fi) operates on the Kouvola-Verla-Repovesi route on weekends during the peak season.
Charter buses can park at the Lapinsalmi, Saarijärvi and Tervajärvi parking areas. Tervajärvi parking area is closed 15.8.-15.10.2022 due to a bridge construction work on the Kivisilmäntie road. Read more.
Please note that there are weight restrictions for the Hirvenpäänoja Bridge on Kivisilmäntie road, which is on the way to Tervajärvi parking area. The maximum permitted mass for a vehicle is 13 tons for a single-axle bogie and 16 tons for a three-axle bogie.
By Shared Taxi to Repovesi
You can take a shared taxi from Kouvola to Repovesi. Kymenlaakson Taksi (kymenlaaksontaksi.fi) offers transport from Kouvola Travel Centre to Lapinsalmi at Repovesi all year round.
By Car to Repovesi
Lapinsalmi parking area, Riippusillantie 55, Kouvola (Road 368). Space for approximately 200 cars. During the winter maintenance period, the parking area is smaller.
Saarijärvi parking area, Kuismantie 990, Kouvola (Road 368). Space for approximately 60 cars. During the winter maintenance period, the parking area is smaller.
Tervajärvi parking area is closed 15.8.-15.10.2022 due to a bridge construction work on the Kivisilmäntie road. Read more. Tervajärvi parking area, Kivisilmäntie 720, Kouvola. Space for approximately 45 cars. During the winter maintenance period, the parking area is smaller. Google Maps and other navigators often provide the wrong driving instructions. Driving directions to Tervajärvi: At Tuohikotti, turn off road 15 onto road 369. The intersection has the following road signs: Jaala 38 and Varuskunta 8. Then follow the signs for Repovesi National Park.
Please note that the Kuismantie road running through Repovesi National Park is closed with gates.

By Boat to Repovesi
It’s easy to reach the national park by boat from the west via Lake Repovesi or Lake Kapiavesi. Find out more about services for boaters.
A water bus travels from the Orilampi Cottage and Holiday Centre to Repovesi along Finland’s Golden Trail (orilampi.com). The Golden Trail is one of Finland’s oldest inland cruise routes. The water bus stops at Kuutinkanava Canal, Mustalamminvuori Hill, Lapinsalmi Sound and Karhulahti Bay.
