Travel time 0,5–1 hours. All year round.

Wild strawberries bloom on the meadows, while the pastures are home to red campion. Dwarf cornel brightens up the landscape from spring until the autumn. The Selkä-Sarvi Nature Trail invites you to discover the nature and culture of the island. The trail takes you from the excursion harbour at the northern tip of Selkä-Sarvi to an old fishing village at the southern end of the island. The restored Ailinpieti hut is one of the sights in the village.

Hiking structures
There is an information board, a campfire site, a cooking shelter, a toilet and a sauna at the Selkä-Sarvi harbour, the starting point of the trail. The nature trail runs on duckboards and on a surface covered with juniper wood chips. There is a bench along the trail. The Ailinpieti fishing base at the southern end of the trail has an open wilderness hut and a rental hut.

Sights
The nature trail is an excellent way to learn more about the archipelago landscape shaped by the sea and land uplift. Purple loosestrife, tufted loosestrife, common valerian and heath speedwell are some of the plants growing along the trail and you may also spot the adder’s-tongue on your hike. A sundial carved in stone and the Ailinpieti fishing base at the southern end of the island are two cultural remnants of the past. Read more about Ailinpieti.
