Circle Trails

On the hiking trails of Näränkä, you can familiarize yourself with the diverse natural conditions of the area, and the restored wilderness farm on Närängänvaara Hill introduces you to the traditional self-sufficient way of life.

The Vaaranpolku Trail, 3 km / circle trail

Category: Demanding trail trail is demanding because of the altitude variations in the terrain.

Trail is almost entirely included in the Näränkä trail. The trail starts from the Suojärvi parking area up the duckboard steps to the Näränkä Wilderness Farm, from where it continues on to the Kirkkokallio and Yhdeksänsylenkallio lookout spots on the top of Närängänvaara Hill.

The Näränkä Wilderness Farm, Kirkkokallio and Yheksänsylenkallio lookout spots as
well as the memorial tree Niko. From the lookout spots, you will see spectacular views to the north over the endless wild forests, and to the south over the Hyöteikönsuo bog protection area.

At Halsinnoro, the Vaarapolku trail diverges from the Näränkä trail and continues towards the memorial tree Niko. On the trunk of Niko, the year 1876 has been inscribed in memory of a pact which the people of Näränkä farm made with the bear that year. From the memorial tree, the trail

Hyöteikönsuo Trail, 3,5 km / direction

This trail passes through The Näränkä Wilderness Farm, going along the top of the hill to the vicinity of the border zone, from where it proceeds down to Hyöteikönsuo. The trail is marked with orange paint marks.

Hiking Structures
The total length of the mire sections with duckboards is about two kilometres. A lookout platform on Hyöteikönsuo Mire.

Sights
Hyöteikönsuo Mire Reserve. During the highest spring floods, the mire turns into a lake
where you can spot flocks of migrating birds.
