The hut is located in the Ala-Penikka area in the western part of the Mire Reserve Area, along the Kemi - Puukkokumpu ski trail and hiking trail.

The old Kaltiolampi hut has been demolished and a new hut has been transferred to the place from Pisavaara Nature Reserve in summer 2019. Only the tables and benches are from the old hut, everything else is new.

Facilities

Stove for heating up the hut.

For sleeping there are simple wooden beds for four persons.

In the yard there is a woodshed, a dry toilet and a campfire site.

There is a 300 m path from the hut to a pond, from where you can take brown water.

Notices

Pets are permitted in the hut, but only in case that other visitors agree with it. 

Please note that there is no gas cooker in the hut.

Waste Management

There are no waste bins at the hut, so we ask that visitors bring their own litter out of the area. Read more about hiking without littering.
