Along the main road E8 to Kilpisjärvi, from where 45 km by foot, skiing or by snowmobile. The cabin is located on the southeastern shore of Lake Porojärvi, in the place, where begins the River Poroeno.

When picking up the keys you must have a receipt with you. Please check the opening times of the key suppliers in advance.
Keys should be returned at the same place where you have fetched them.
Facilities
The UKK cabin has two bunk beds, candle light, gas stove and wood heated iron heater.
The new cabin was build in 1998. It has wood heated iron heater, living room with a bunk bed, kitchenette with bunk bed and bed room with bunk bed. Candle light.
Separate wood heated sauna by shore, boat. A dry toilet and a woodshed outside the hut. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
Take your own candles, toilet paper and headlamp with you.
The water in the area is usually safe to drink, but we recommend to boil it before use.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Recycling points can be found at Yllästunturi, Pallastunturi and Fell Lapland Visitor Centre. Read more about Hiking without Littering.
Notices
It is 45 km from Porojärvi to Kilpisjärvi village. There is a shop, a fuel distribution point and restaurants. Kilpisjärvi Visitor Centre is open during the peak season from March to September. It is 120 km to Hetta village, the centre of the municipality of Enontekiö. In Hetta there is the Fell Lapland Visitor Centre and other services.
It is possible to have snowmobile transportation to the hut.
When leaving the hut, remember that it has to be clean an ready for the next customers. The hut can´t be checked after each customer. If the previous customer has not cleaned the hut, please contact immediately to the maintenance of the hut. If the hut is not cleaned after the rent, Metsähallitus will charge for the cleaning.
Visitors must come prepared with warm clothing, food, drink, maps, compass, orienteering skills and matches. Fog or storms can form in just a few hours. Take also your own toilet paper.
Fishing area
When fishing in the rivers, you have to pay the fisheries management fee (eraluvat.fi) as well as a municipality of Enontekiö permit no 1551. When fishing at Lätäseno you must have a Lätäseno fishing area permit no 1550 (eraluvat.fi). This permit gives you right to fish at Poroeno, too. Fishing permits are sold by the customer service points of Metsähallitus as well as local tourist enterprisers.
