Ruktajávri Open Wilderness Hut (so called Ruktajärvi)


Open wilderness hut for 10 persons.


Northern Lapland Region, Municipality Utsjoki, Paistunturi Wilderness Area.

Ruktajávri, coordinates: Euref-Fin (~ WGS84) lat: 69° 27.3684' lon: 26° 17.6432'  ETRS-TM35FIN: N: 7705384 E: 472352.

The wilderness hut is situated on the Kevo Hiking Trail, outside of the border of the strict nature reserve when coming from Karigasniemi.

This wilderness hut is suited for winter use.


  • A wood-burning stove and a gas cooker.



  • Pets are permitted in the hut, but only if other visitors consent to it.
  • Safety on hiking.
  • There is a recycling point at the wilderness hut, but hikers are asked to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about Hiking Without Littering.
