The wilderness hut is situated on the south bank of the River Kaskasjoki which runs into the River Toriseno. It is about 2 km downstream from Lake Kaskasjärvi on a strip of land between the river and a pond.

A stove. A dry toilet and a woodshed outside the hut.
Pets are permitted in the hut, but only in case that other visitors agree with it.
Visitors must come prepared with warm clothing, food, drink, maps, compass, orienteering skills and matches. Fog or storms can form in just a few hours. Take also your own toilet paper.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Recycling points can be found at Yllästunturi, Pallastunturi and Fell Lapland Visitor Centre. Read more about Hiking without littering.

Tourist entrepreneurs operating in national parks or other areas managed by Metsähallitus need a cooperation agreement. A fee is charged for using the routes and service infrastructure for business activities.
