Hirvás / Hirvasvuopio Rental Hut
Hirvasvuopio Rental Hut is located by the shore of the River Lätäseno, in the hearth of Käsivarsi Wilderness Area. In winter the hut can be reached by skiing or snowmobile, in summer by foot, mountain bike or aeroplane. The nature offers excellent opportunities for fishing. The most popular time is March-April.

Hirvasvuopio Open Wilderness Hut is situated about 450 metres from the rental hut.
It is 70 km from Hirvasvuopio to Kilpisjärvi village. There is a shop, a fuel distribution point and restaurants. Kilpisjärvi Visitor Centre is open during the peak season from March to September. It is 60 km from Hirvasvuopio to Karesuvanto village. There is the nearest fuel distribution point and restaurant. In the Swedish side of the border there is a shop and other services. It is 120 km to Hetta village, the centre of the municipality of Enontekiö. In Hetta there is an airport, Fell Lapland Visitor Centre and other services.
250 € / day or 1500 € / week (incl. VAT 10%).

When picking up the keys you must have a receipt with you. Please check the opening times of the key suppliers in advance. Keys should be returned at the same place where you have fetched them.
Living room, bedroom, loft, kitchenette, wood heated iron heater, candle lights, gas stove and oven. In living room there are two bunk beds (lower bed for two persons), in loft two beds and in bedroom a bunk bed.
Separate wood heated sauna by shore, ground cellar for food, store house, outdoor toiler and two boats. There is a boat ramp and pier at the river.
Take own candles, toilet paper and headlamp with you.
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Recycling points can be found at Kilpisjärvi and Fell Lapland Visitor Centre. Read more about Hiking without Littering.
It is possible to have snowmobile transportation to the hut.
When leaving the hut, remember that it has to be clean and ready for the next customers. The hut can't be checked after each customer. If the previous customer has not cleaned the hut, please contact immediately to the maintenance of the hut. If the hut is not cleaned after the rent, Metsähallitus will charge for the cleaning.
It is recommended to boil water from natural sources before consumption. It is approximately 30 metres to the banks of the Lätäseno River.
Visitors must come prepared with warm clothing, food, drink, maps, compass, orienteering skills and matches. Fog or storms can form in just a few hours. Take also your own toilet paper.
When fishing in the rivers, you have to pay fisheries management fee (eraluvat.fi) as well as a municipality of Enontekiö permit no 1551 (eraluvat.fi). When fishing at Lätäseno you must have a Lätäseno permit no 1550 (eraluvat.fi) in addition to the national fisheries management fee. Fishing permits are sold by the customer service points of Metsähallitus.
Hunting area 1613 Käsivarsi (eraluvat.fi). The majority of game species are grouse and mountain hare. Those hunting with a dog must contact the reindeer herding cooperative. Hunting permits are sold by Metsähallitus customer service points, including Fell Lapland Visitor Centre.
