The wilderness hut, which was previously owned by Finland's Border Guard, is situated on the north shore of the lake which is on the south side of Haltitunturi Fell. It is approximately 1,5 km from Nordkalottleden Trail.

A stove and a gas cooker. A dry toilet and a woodshed outside the hut. 


Pets are permitted in the hut, but only in case that other visitors agree with it.

The building also houses a reservable wilderness hut for 13 persons.

Visitors must come prepared with warm clothing, food, drink, maps, compass, orienteering skills and matches. Fog or storms can form in just a few hours. Take also your own toilet paper.

Waste Management

Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Recycling points can be found at Yllästunturi, Pallastunturi and Fell Lapland Visitor Centre. Read more about hiking without Littering.
