Check for Warnings
When forest and grass fire warnings (en.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi) are in effect, fire is only allowed at covered campfire sites that have a flue. A fire can be also lit in fireplaces at wilderness and other huts. Always use extreme caution when handling fire. The one who lights a fire is always responsible for its safe use. Please note, that making fire at these campfire sites can be banned locally.
As of Tuesday 2 May 2023 at 12 noon, the public can book reservable huts and rental huts maintained by Metsähallitus Parks & Wildlife Finland for 2024. Reservations can be made in the Eräluvat webshop. A small proportion of the huts can be booked at the local nature centre or through our partners.
Metsähallitus Parks & Wildlife Finland maintains approximately 150 reservable huts and rental huts for hikers in national parks, other nature conservation areas and wilderness areas. Most of the huts can be reserved in the Eräluvat webshop (eraluvat.fi) or by calling the service number +358 20 692 424. A few of the huts can only be booked through nature centres. Some huts can only be booked for whole weeks, but most can also be booked for other times. The most popular huts may also have restrictions on the length of the reservation to make it possible for as many people as possible to enjoy them.
In the Nationalparks.fi online service, you can find a description of the types of huts and instructions for making a reservation
If you are considering a reservation, you should visit https://www.nationalparks.fi/huts to see the types of huts available and for more detailed information on making a reservation.
In addition to reservable and rental huts, hikers are offered free day trip huts and wilderness huts. Day trip huts are meant for hikers to use during daytime, and they are not for staying overnight except for in exceptional circumstances. Wilderness huts are for private persons who are hiking, skiing or otherwise arriving there by means of their own efforts to use as a temporary place of rest or for staying overnight.
