The rental hut is situated on the south side of the River Ivalojoki on the bank of the River Palsinoja. It is in the centre of the gold panning district.

Price and Keys

55 Euros / day (incl. VAT 10%). A reservation begins at 12 noon on the day of arrival and ends at 12 noon the day of departure.

The hut is reservable from March to October.

You can pick up the keys from Saariselkä Customer Service Kiehinen, Tankavaara Visitor Centre or a separately arranged point. Keys must be returned to the same place they were picked up from.

Facilities

Wood oven, gas stove, fireplace, mattresses, blankets, pillows, candles for lighting, ourdoor toilet. No sauna. Visitors can get water from the River Palsinoja. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm!

There are waste bins at the wilderness hut, but we ask that hikers bring their own litter out of the area. Read more about Hiking Without Littering.

Pets are not permitted in the hut.
The hut is 800 m from the nearest parking area. The trail follows the bank of the River Palsinoja downstream.

In the hut is possible to stay maximum 7 nights in a row.

Safety on hiking

Directions

From Saariselkä take road E-75 and drive south along it for 10 km or alternatively drive 2 km north from Kakslauttanen. Then turn onto Kutturantie Road. Follow Kutturantie Road for 17 km and then turn onto Pahaojantie Road, continuing along it for 14 km to Palsinoja. For the last few kilometres you will have to drive carefully and you should leave your car on top of the hill just before the River Palsinoja. Pahanojantie Road is not cleared of snow during winter.

The wilderness hut can not be reached by public transport. The closest coach stop is on road E-75 at the intersection for Kutturantie Road. From there it is a 31 km hike to Raahen Pirtti rental hut.
