The Lake Suvasvesi Shore Conservation Programme Area is suitable for water activities. The beautiful lake scenery attracts both fishermen and those interested in history. The crystal-clear waters hide the mysterious meteorite craters. The actual Lake Suvasvesi Shore Conservation Programme Area comprises small islands and land areas on different sides of the large lake.
There is a special sight, Paimensaari Island, where you can experience the inventive efforts of the four siblings who lived there in the 1900s. The traditional landscape of the island is today managed by voluntary workers and sheep. There is also a short nature trail and a campfire site on this charming island.
The area is managed by Metsähallitus, Parks & Wildlife Finland, address: Urheilukatu 3 A, 81700 Lieksa.
