Exceptionally, bookings for the reservation and rental huts maintained by National Parks Finland for the year 2025 can only be made starting from the beginning of November 2024. More information

Service hut, 120 m2, 2 rooms and a kitchen, WC, shower. Next to the cottage there is a separate sauna which is heated with wood. Reservable between 1.5-31.10. 2024.

Reservation

The hut can be booked 1.5-31.10. 2024 at the Eräluvat web store (verkkokauppa.eraluvat.fi)

Sommarös hut is now a service hut and it functions especially as a service point for schools and other groups.
Use: Cooking, food storage, dining room, use of shower and toilet, meeting room, outdoor sauna. No overnight stay.
Possible overnight stay at the cottage in your own tents.

The key pick up and return location is Sale Replot, Vallgrundvägen 1, 65800 Replot. The key ring also has a key for the road boom.  The boom has two locks, the top of which can be opened with the key in the key ring. The boom must be kept locked.

Arrival at 9:00 AM and departure at 10 PM.

The defence forces' depot and coastal artillery fort operated in this area during the years 1940 – 2000. The defence forces left behind a network of roads and trails, several house foundations, a pier, foundations for artillery pieces and bunkers. A monument has been erected to commemorate the operations of the coastal artillery fort. Of all the buildings, only the guard hut including some smaller building in the yard remain.

The area incorporates a nature trail  and a pier.

By car

Drive 21 km north from Vaasa along road no. 724 towards
Replot. Continue 9 km west from Replot along road
no. 7242 to Södra Vallgrund. From there, follow the
signs to "Fort Sommarö".
 

By public transportation

Weekdays you can travel to Södra Vallgrund by bus (matkahuolto.fi). Get off the bus at the store
in Södra Vallgrund.  Turn back for 150 m from the
store and follow the signs to "Fort Sommarö".
The walking distance is about 3 km.

Price

40 € /day (incl. VAT 10%). 1.5.-31.10.2024

The lean-to shelter, camp fireplace, and dry closet are in use without charge.

You can pick up and return the keys at the keys is Sale Replot.

The keys will only be issued against receipt.

Facilities

  • 2 air-source heat pump and electric heating
  • Electricity
  • Electric lighting
  • Municipal water system with potable water. Also warm water
  • Cooking: Electric stove, microwave, coffee and water kettle, kitchen utensils and cutlery for 22 people. Large refrigerator and freezer.
  • Shower and toilet
  • No overnight stays in the building. You can spend the night in your own tents in the yard.
  • Pets are permitted in the hut, but must be kept outside on a leash.
  • Next to the cottage there is a separate sauna which is heated with wood. Wash water must be carried in.

The yard

  • A long table-bench combination, 2 lean-to shelters, a campfire site
  • An outhouse with a dry toilet. There is no toilet paper in the dry toilet. 
  • Sauna
  • Lean-to shelters and the fire place in the yard as well as the compost toilet in the outhouse can be used without reservation

Notices

  • The road boom must be kept locked. The key to the boom is included in Sommarö's key ring. The boom has two locks, the top of which can be opened with the key in the key ring. The road boom must be kept locked.
  • The road to the parking lot and the cottage as well as the parking lot is plowed, but be prepared for delays in heavy snowfall. The snow work on the cottage's yard belongs to the tenant.
  • Clean the hut before you leave it with the cleaning equipment found in the cleaning cupboard. More detailed instructions on cleaning in the cottage book.
  • The key to the Stormossens locked container comes with the Hut key.
    The locked container for the Stormossen eco point is located in the Raippaluoto Sale parking lot, Vallgrundintie 1.
    Both combustible waste and bio-waste can be left in the locked container.
    Paper, glass and metal have their own containers at the eco point, in the Raippaluoto Sale parking lot, Vallgrundintie 1.
