Ristinpelto, a cemetery from the early Christian era

Visit: Ristinpelto cemetery is open to visitors free of charge all year round. The site is not staffed and there is no winter maintenance.
Instructions and rules: The Ristinpelto is a fixed relic site, which may not be excavated, covered or damage in any way under the Antiquities Act (www.nba.fi). Campfires are also prohibited.
Sights and activities: Ristinpelto is situated on a sandy hillock close to the River Aurajoki. The small (35 x 25 m) cemetery is surrounded by a low stone wall on three sides. The large wooden cross in the middle of the area bears a bronze plaque with the text "In memory of the deceased laid to rest here at the dawn of Christianity." Read more.
