There are no maintained campfire sites in Ilmakkiaapa. Lighting a fire is not forbidden in the area but it is not recommended. However, lighting campfires is forbidden if a forest fire warning is in effect.

Please bring your own drinking water because you cannot get any in the area.
There are no waste collection bins along the trails, so you must take care of waste disposal yourself. This means that it is the responsibility of each hiker to bring the waste that accumulates during the trip back to a recycling point. Read more about Hiking without Littering.
There are no toilets in the area.
The mire reserve does not lend itself well to overnight stays, but spending the night in a tent, for example, is allowed by the traditional Finnish legal concept known as everyman's right.

There are no trails or services in Ilmakkiaapa that are suitable for the disabled.
