Shops

  • The nearest shops are in the town centre of Savonlinna. It is about 10 km to Savonlinna from, for example, Iso-Kankainen excursion harbour.

Campfire Sites

  • All the excursion harbours have campfire sites, except Taikinasaari Island.
  • Please note that if the forest fire warning is in effect, lighting campfires is forbidden everywhere. Also avoid lighting an open fire when the wind is strong, to prevent forest fires.

Drinking Water

  • There are no taps or wells in the area. Surface water (from lakes, rivers and brooks) should be boiled before drinking it, as the quality of the water is changeable.

Waste Management

  • In the excursion harbours, there are no waste-bins. Measures should be taken in advance to avoid taking unnecessary waste into the area. Of the waste that accumulates during your trip, biodegradable waste should be placed in a toilet and small amounts of clean paper and cardboard can be used as kindling in a campfire.Take all other waste out of the area.   • There are dry toilets in all the excursion harbours, except in Uuraanpää.
  • Toilet paper is good to have along.

Excursion Harbours

  • There are 17 excursion harbours for boaters on Lake Pihlajavesi.
  • In the excursion harbours, camping is allowed according to the Everyman's right (www.ymparisto.fi) for 1 - 3 days.
  • Visitors should note that there are a lot of privately owned lands in the area and visitors should respect the landowners and their privacy.
