Starting Points for Trails
The parking area at the east end of Lake Iso-Melkutin serves as the starting point for the area's trails.
- There are approximately 5 km of trails in the Melkuttimet area which for the most part follow the shores of Lake Iso-Melkutin. The trails are suited for beginners. At a few places your pulse may rise a bit as there are slightly steeper ascents. The trail around the lake is marked with blue diamond-shaped symbols. Other parts are marked with green Ilvesreitti Network lynx symbols (ilves = lynx).
- The trails in the Melkuttimet area are part of the Paaran Patikka Trail, which is part of the Ilvesreitti Trail Network (www.hameenvirkistysalueyhdistys.fi, in Finnish) consisting of over 200 km of trails. Paaran Patikka like the rest of the Ilvesreitti Network is marked with yellow lynx symbols (ilves = lynx).
- Services: Along the trail hikers can stay overnight in tents, lean-to shelters, Lapp pole tents or in a paid accommodation.
