There are usually no waste collection bins along the trails, so you must take care of waste disposal yourself. This means that it is the responsibility of each hiker to bring the waste that accumulates during the trip back to a recycling point. Biodegradable waste should be placed in a toilet or composter, and small amounts of clean paper and cardboard can be used as kindling in a campfire.
Kilpisjärvi Visitor Centre is accessible by wheelchair. There is a toilet for the disabled in the visitor centre. Hiking routes in Malla Strict Nature Reserve are not suitable for the physically challenged.
