Drinking Water

  • Water is usually drinkable in the area of the Lemmenjoki National Park, but the water quality is not monitored. A rule of thumb is that the quality of flowing waters is better than that of still water. It is recommended that the drinking water be boiled on hot summer days.

Campfire Sites

  • Metsähallitus maintains the campfire sites on the riverbanks in the Lemmenjoki National Park.
  • There are no maintained campfire sites on the shores of Lake Paadarjärvi, Lake Solojärvi, and the Leutolahti Bay. On the lake shores, you are only allowed to make a campfire on state lands, in a place where the fire cannot spread. Read more.

Waste Management and Firewood Service

  • There is a woodshed at each maintained rest spot. At the woodsheds, there are roughly 30-cm-long logs, and an axe for chopping them.
  • Please use the logs sparingly. The logs are transported to the national park by snowmobile from outside the national park.
  • There are mixed waste bins at the rest spots. However, we recommend that you take away everything that you bring with you. Read more.

Dry Toilets

  • There are dry toilets at the maintained rest spots. Please note that there is no toilet paper at the dry toilets.

The rest spots mentioned in the route description are managed by Metsähallitus' Northern Lapland Park Area. More information is available at the Siida Northern Lapland Nature Centre and Ivalo Customer Service.
