Castle Ruins in the Heart of the Town

Visit: The Kajaani Castle ruins are open to visitors free of charge all year round, but there is no winter maintenance.
Instructions and rules: The Kajaani Castle Ruins is a fixed relic site, which may not be excavated, covered or damage in any way under the Antiquities Act (www.nba.fi). Campfires are also prohibited.
Sights and Activities: The castle ruins are a suitable destination for day trips which, together with the services provided in the surroundings, offers visitors a versatile cultural experience.

The Linnanvirta fishing area covers both riverbanks at the castle ruins (www.kalallakainuussa.fi). It also provides fishing opportunities for the disabled.
Passenger steamship Kouta (www.oulujarviristeilyt.fi, in Finnish) offers cruises on Lake Oulujärvi in the summer, departures from Kalkkisilta.
